June '99

Throughout history Rensselaer alumni have designed and shaped destiny, both nationally and internationally, with their innovations and inventions. In June we'll introduce readers to the second group of inductees to Rensselaer's Alumni Hall of Fame, which has been "designed to permanently preserve, celebrate, and widely communicate the long and exceptional heritage of Rensselaer."

Also in June, "it was one small step for man, one giant celebration for RPI!" Look for extensive coverage of Space Week, which turned the Houston Field House into a Space Museum complete with astronauts, rockets, a planetarium, space-related research and much more.

September '99

In September we'll introduce you to Rensselaer's newest president, Dr. Shirley Ann Jackson, whose tenure begins officially at Rensselaer July 1. Our indepth interview will discuss Jackson's vision for the Institute as it prepares to enter the 21st century.

Paul Severino '69

Entrepreneurism is hot at Rensselaer. It's an idea that's long been embraced by the Lally School of Management and Technology and indeed, across campus. A recent $5 million gift from Rensselaer Trustee Paul Severino '69 to the Center for Technological will enhance the center's ability to work creatively with faculty universitywide to infuse principles and practice of entrepreneurship in Rensselaer courses in all disciplines. We'll also update readers on Rensselaer's Incubator Center, which is moving to the Rice Building in downtown Troy. The move will enable closer collaboration with campus. The Incubator Center recently named alumnus Bela Musits '75 as director.
