EMPAC

EMPAC construction is concentrated on Rensselaer’s Troy campus on 8th Street. All current work on the building is confined to the limits of site construction within the fenced enclosure. Efforts continue to maintain clear, unobstructed and safe passage on 8th Street and College Avenue with clean streets around the immediate project site.

  • Drivers to East Campus should park in the B, D, and E lots near the Houston Field House, then walk along Harkness Field and Track to the Lower Renwyck Fields.

Handicapped Access To Lower Renwyck Fields

Anyone requiring handicapped access to the Lower Renwyck Fields is allowed to park on that block of Georgian Terrace. Display your accessible parking hang tag. Park carefully so as not to obstruct large vehicles and use caution in the area. The completed project will provide limited handicap accessible parking in this area.

Construction Site Access:

  • All construction traffic is limited to Georgian Terrace, Sunset Terrace and Cook Drive.
  • All drivers have been informed to avoid residential neighborhood roads.
  • Allowable hours of operation are 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday thru Saturday.

West Hall Exterior Restoration

This multi-phase exterior restoration project that commenced in 2004 and is expected to be completed by the spring of 2009 will restore RPI’s West Hall on 8th Street to its elegant Empire-style appearance. Pedestrians ascending the hill from the informal Fulton Street footpath will continue to be diverted around the site until work is completed.

Congress & Ferry Corridor

Rensselaer is pleased to be collaborating with the City, the County and the Troy Housing Authority to advance the vision for development of the Congress & Ferry Streets corridor.

Work Hours

External construction activity of any type shall take place Monday through Saturday between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Construction will not take place on Sundays or any of the following major holidays without approval from the City: Christmas Day, New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day.

Rensselaer is committed to maintaining a work site that is safe and orderly. Dust, noise, and heavy equipment are intrusive but common elements of construction. We will endeavor to minimize the inconvenience, and appreciate your understanding and patience.
